    Re: New Mega Mono

It feels extremely light the way it's sitting now. It's going to be a 260 Rem. The Krieger 1/8 is waiting on the 260 TAC reamer from PTG. It should be here next week. Finish at 24" plus the Badger thruster brake. Oh I forgot it's getting an American Gold trigger. I'm using a BAT barrel extension. They are slightly over-sized for a tight fit in the upper receiver.

Nice, I'm gonna try one of those in my monolithic build too. Everybody has pretty good things to say about them.

    Re: New Mega Mono

That looks really nice! I almost went monolithic in the MA-Ten group buy but decided on the standard version. If I had been able to see the finished product before I ordered it I may have wwent with it. But at the time they had just introduced it and nobody had one and nobody knew what it would look like in the end. I'm interested to see how well it goes together with the BAT extension.

    Re: New Mega Mono

I used the BAT ext. on a 308 barrel recently and liked it. It barely fit in the DPMS Upper. Another nice feature is all the edges are polished in the lug area. It doesn't mark up brass near as much compared to the factory ones. It does slightly mark the neck.

    Re: New Mega Mono

Toygunner, that's gonna be an awesome setup. I am also getting ready to do a 20", Krieger 5.56 with a Mega Mono-Upper, Adams Arms Piston kit and SureFire muzzle brake. Get some pics and a range report up asap.

    Re: New Mega Mono

It comes with a castle type nut and a long tube wrench to slide over the barrel. The wrench has a 1/2" socket on the end. The nut gets torqued at 65lb. and then install the gas block/tube and your finished.

It may be a few weeks before its done, I'm getting ready the for the Blue Ridge 3 gun. I'll try to update the post when possible.

    Re: New Mega Mono

You don't need to worry about the gas tube alignment with the barrel nut but how do you tighten or install the gas block pin/screw? Doesn't the hand guard extend past the gas block? Is there enough room between the rail openings to access the gas block? This is what I was referring to as being a PITA.

    Not to be a jerk but . . . I hate you!

I went with one of these on the group buy and I'm getting pretty giddy. They look awesome, make sure you show us the final product.

There are a couple small cut outs on the bottom rail at all the normal gas block intervals so you can access the set screws.

Look at the fourth picture here:

See this for info on the handguard. Rifle length gas system has the gas block outside the handguard. Mid length and carbine have cutouts in the bottom of the handguard, as seen here.

Here it is. Specs: Krieger 6.5-1/8 Rem Var contour that was 31" cut to 24" .860 muzzle dia. with a Badger Thruster brake. 260 TAC reamer from PTG. Badger MK12 gas block, American Gold trigger, GG&G bi-pod, NF 3.5-15x50 Hi-speed ZS in a NF 20 moa uni-mount. The rifle bare weighs 11.64 lbs.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

    Re: Mega Mono- Updated

Its about 26" overall with the Badger brake on it. The only reason I put the blank was 31" is so someone would not throw out the BS flag on a Rem Var. barrel that finishes at .865 muzzle dia., because someone would post that that a Rem. Var. is approx. .830 dia. at the muzzle.

    Re: Mega Mono- Updated

Here is the target my buddy shot with the rifle. I realize it's a three shot group, but that is all he sent. I built the rifle for him and he took it before I could test it. The load was with 142 SMK and Rem. brass.

Tenneseans do not need to fake it my MA-TEN build just did one similar in 308 18.5' 1:11.25 Rock 5R off a bipod. Never seen a threat target that needed more than 3 in the head anyway

So true, so true. Just hoping my barrel gets here soon so I can get to work on duplicating that accomplishment with my own MA TEN Mono.

    Re: Mega Mono- Updated

I do believe he has a shooter. It was fun watching him drill those targets one after another towards the end of the shoot. You did an awesome job on the build.
