I got the 55 gr fmj because it is supposedly lake city brass and it was a cheap way to get brass formed to my chamber for the same price as new brass (30 cents per) while breaking in the new barrel.
Maybe the hollow point match is better but the FMJ was not only inaccurate (3 moa maybe? first sized at 100 yards) it also waaay over pressure (3250 fps in 16" barrel). Chewed the shit out of the brass with flow into the ejector hole leaving raised burrs there and the extractor was leaving a nasty burr also. Sanded the burrs down, reamed the crimps and I only got maybe 20% of them that had primer pockets suitable to reload, the other 80% were so blown out loose that it was like I was seating primers into thin air.
I bought a box of american eagle and it was just fine as was my more recent reloads in airborne68s 1x lake city, none of them gave me those nasty burrs with the same gas settings. So sure, its cheap, but its also a waste of money IME.
