So I was thinking of getting the SS 10X to mount on my .25-06 Sendero until I noticed the non-HD model does not have the mil turrets. Is there a significant cost difference between a mil turret and a moa turret? Just trying to figure out why the turret is not matched to the reticle. I am new to the precision shooting game and I am not ready to go all in on a scope that costs $1000 plus. I thought the SS 10X was the answer at 299...now I think I will hold out for a PST. I know the HD model has mil adjustments but I would rather have a variable power scope if I am going to drop that kind of cash on a scope.

Re: mildot reticle moa turrets

I think that you just answered your own question. The PST would be a good route to take. I'd just point out that getting a scope with mil adjustments isn't as important as getting a scope with adjustments that match the graduations in the reticle. Whether MOA/MOA or mil/mil is a matter of personal preference.

Going mil/mil is a bit easier than the MOA system, but for the type of shooting that I do most of the time I think that MOA is more precise (offering smaller units of measurement) than the mil system.

I ordered a PST a couple of days ago and am anticipating its arrival. Once I get it, I'm sure that I'll post something because I'm really interested to see how it will compare to my Nightforce.

Re: mildot reticle moa turrets

PST or SS 3-9X would be good alternatives. Whatever your reticle is (MOA, mil), it is easier if the turrets match. With an FFP scope (or an SFP scope on its ranging power) you can dial in corrections using the reticle - without having to make any calculations.

There is always the Bushnell 10x in mil/mil if you want to try a budget scope with matching reticle and turrets. Midway had them for under 200 last I checked.
