Miniature Bull Terriers

Do you have the personality, time and energy to train and physically stimulate a breed that had aggression bred into it?

If yes, then look at the health concerns for standard Bull Terriers and multiply that by two... as mini anythings have got so many more health problems.

Yes

Have you had one? I haven’t heard that the miniature version had aggression bred into it in modern times.

I think you may be confusing pit bulls with bull terriers. The two are seperate breeds. And no, bull terriers are not bred for aggression. They are also not good fighting dogs.

I had 2.

Chico was 10 when I had to have him put down, he was about 40lbs of fury! Chased his tail a lot, but was friendly and never bothered anyone. He was quite the clown. He also ate several pairs of oakleys and ruined a couple pairs of boots

Shay….. big fat deaf bitch…. She weighed 78lb and could freaking move. Never had health issues till she swallowed the parachute man and his parachute…we was out of town and had a dog sitter and she didn’t say anything about her being sick, they found it too late and the infection was too bad, so I had to put her down. Shay would eat anything…. And I mean anything! Finally got the best of her. Great dog, she loved my kids and played with them all the time.

Miss them both very much, would for sure like to have another one!

Thankfully no. That isn't my sorry attempt to crap on you either man. It is just that mini-anythings have more health issues though. Breeders are going for size and not confirmation. I know that someone with the best-est mini is getting ready to flame me now. I've got a couple thousand dogs we see, they have a sample of 1-2. An anecdote is not going to sway the medical records we have.

I do see a couple standards fairly regularly. Those ones are good with humans... not with other dogs. The standards as a general rule have more health concerns than a lot of other breeds. Doesn't mean I'm against them... I'm just saying that homework is necessary. You are allowed to get whatever fancies your boat.

The Bull Terrier was in fact bred with aggression in mind man. Fighting and killing rats, were like purposes #1 and 2 when the breed was developed. That doesn't mean all examples are natural born killers, far from it. However, there's a reason why Labradors aren't junk yard dogs. Some breed generalization is necessary, just like pits/rotts etc... Commit to training and socializing, be the Alpha, and you'll probably have a good dog (with people at least).
