Minox Optics...

I am curious as to the relative quality of Minox Optics. I am in the market for a new spotting scope and was leaning heavily towards Pentax, but I have found a fair deal on a Minox MD 62 with an angled eyepiece. If this is quality glass, it is going to be several hundred dollars less expensive than the Pentax glass. If you own a Minox optic, or, have used one and have positive experiences, I would appreciate knowing. If it is not the quality of Pentax, I would prefer to just spend the money and cry once...

Thanks,

Jim

Re: Minox Optics...

Jim,
I'm sure others have more in-depth and specific Minox experience.
But, one thing I can say is that I used a buddies 10x?? binos at a match last summer. They were excellent -- great resolution, wide FOV, bright. I believe they were on the more expensive end of their line as they had that Euro look of the expensive Swaros and Leicas. Optically as good as the Swaros/Leicas/Zeiss? I think their higher end is knocking at the door.
Haven't used one of their spotters.

Re: Minox Optics...

I have some of their 10X42 binos. They are amazingly clear. Check out SWFA's sample list for some great deals. That was where I got mine and it was well below what I would have paid new, but there was not a mark on them.

Re: Minox Optics...

k2peaker & MinorDamage,

Thanks so much for the reply on the quality of the Minox optics. I have never seen them in my area and I am very curious as to their quality, as they are apparently German made glass, which is usually very good, and I am in need of a good spotter for hunting.

Thanks again,

Jim
