Rifle Scopes Minox scopes?

Re: Minox scopes?

I have a 20-year old Swarovski (3 x 9 x 36) and a Minox Z5 4-20 from 10/10. Don't ever try to compare a Swarov of any kind to a Minox Scope. The Minox glass is all right, but I am having some problems with the internals (side focus doesn't seem to work) and you can't change the power with gloves on, so hard to turn the gloves roll up on your fingers. I'm going to try to send it back for repair, but wouldn't recommend a Minox at this time...

Re: Minox scopes?

I'm a Minox dealer & currently run a 3-15x ZA with a 40-something front objective. To my eyes, the clarity & resolution is very good, especially when you consider the price point. I'd say the overall glass quality is approaching Zeiss Conquest level but not as good. It's a tossup with the Elite 4200/6500 lines.

My issue with the Minox I own has to do with the eyebox. It is VERY sensitive & can be difficult to get a complete, stable picture of the target. Also, the turrets, while positive for adjustment, are very basic and leave a bit to be desired. My application for this scope is atop a bone stock Savage 22/250 that weighs under 7 lbs & is used for coyotes. Optically it is up to this task but I'd prefer an easier eyebox.

Again, I'm a Minox dealer & may be a tad biased. Just my $.02.

Re: Minox scopes?

By way of addendum to my earlier post about problems with my scope. I called Minox, Greg Clark, and was advised that they would replace my scope upon receipt of the defective one. Can't get much better CS than that. Regarding the sight picture (tunneling). The scope has really looooong eye relief and needs to be mounted forward as far as possible; this is a relatively compact scope which may make forward mounting problematic, may need a forward mount??? When I get back off the scope, the sight picture clears up fine...
