Next: Go to the "Bear Pit" section and look at "civilian sniper". That will hopefully help with your mistake in terminology.
Now... Savage makes a good long-range, budget minded tactical style rifle. If you like them, go for it. Get good glass.

please dont make another thread devoted to your mid-range optics. just see how much your willing to spend and go into the optics subforum. questions about best scopes for 100-400, 400-600, 600-1000, etc have been asked ad nauseum and you can probably find comments about any scope that you're curious about just by searching.
i might've sound harsh, but i was in your situation a year and a half ago. in fact i still have two years of college left. i found that you can find almost any questions you have just by searching, so just lurk around a little more and use the google search function. you'll find everything there is for you to know about any rifle/ optic you want in the bolt action and optic sub forums. this way you wont be the 5000th person to start a new thread on etc.

You cant go wrong with savage, although I did.... for a good mid price range scope I might get a Vortex, Falcon or a SS HD.

Yeah, I know I'll never fill the roll of sniper. It's just an area that I am interested in and would like to study. I only said I'd want to eventually get as close as a marksman enthusiast (civilian) could... But I will refrain from using the term further.

Well, I had meant to say that I wasn't intending to speak about optics in this current thread at all. I haven't really begun my research yet, and wasn't intending on making a thread until I had done a lot of research. I'm sure a lot of questions will be answered when I go to that portion of the forums and I probably won't need to ask anything. Sorry for misconstruing that.
