Thinking about mocking up a MK12 upper for my AR for longer range desert shooting and coyotes. My problem is that I can't find any barrels tighter than a 1:8 twist and my question is will a 20" barrel with a 1:8 twist stabilize a 77gr match grade bullet?

Did you miss this part?

Re: MK 12

1:8 twist is fine for 77's. Some shoot them out of 1:9's. MK262? If it has a 556 chamber then technically yes but that doesn't mean it will be accurate. Better off making up your own handloads imo.

Rainier has WOA barrels in stock, Bravocompany has some stainless 1:8 offerings that might interest you too.

+1, BigJoe knows a thing or two about MK12's amongst other things that those guys w/ the flippers use!

FWIW, i'm running a noveske 18" on mine (1:7) and it rocks. It came from Ranier arms. I will probably use a WOA on my next one just for price though. Both are great, as are the options from high-caliber sales, ADCO, etc.
