I ordered the Savage Mark II-BTV yesterday.

When it shows up I will put my William Peep Sights back on the Savage MK II-FVT, and put the varmint scope from this rifle (along with the 20 MOA Base) on the new MK II-BTV.

I originally bought the MK II-FVT to shoot target peeps out to 25/50 yards (perhaps a bit further), but after all the discussion of shooting .22LR longrange out to 200 yards here at SH, it didn't take me long to get hooked on the 200 yard gong shooting.

Still, I was missing the purpose/intent of why I had originally bought the MK II-FVT, so I solved that yesterday. I'll probably use both in our SH competitions (and a few other .22's) once the weather breaks and gets me out of this deep freeze I'm in right now.

The MK II-FVT has been a good rifle for me, so I expect that the MK II-BTV will be just as good - if not better simply through stock design.

Re: MK II-BTV & MK II-FVT

I was about to make a BV/BVT purchase when I saw the thread about Savage bringing a new offering to the .22 line-up in 2010. I may have to wait and see if the stocks are a composite or just injection molded plastic.

Had similar thoughts as well, El Kabong. I then decided that the laminated stock with thumb hole was what I have been leaning towards, more over the new 2010 Savage releases, so I decided to pickup/order the BTV now rather then wait.

There very well could be one of those new releases in my future. One never knows? I do like the Savage line.
