Does anyone have one? And how well does it shoot out of the box? Am looking to upgrade from my J.C.Higgins and was just wondering about the rifle. Found one new for 299 @ Dick's. Thanks for any info.

I have the FV... which is same gun minus whatever low quality scope stuck on the package deal.... the rifle shoots great, but your going to want to upgrade the optics i'm sure.

Was wondering about the designation without the cheap scope, as I already have an Ok .22 scope. And could probably save some change that way.

I love my mark II... It shoots great groups right out of the box capable of .5" at fifty yards with good ammo.. No doubt in my mind that you'll love having it..

My Mk II BTV hovers around 1/2" at 50 w/ a few different types of cheap ammo. Same action, barrel, trigger, just a different stock. My 93 FV in 22 mag hovers around 1" at 100 yards.
Depending on what style shooting you do, the F stock may flex too much or not be high enough to give you a proper cheek weld.
I'll recommend looking at the BV model and the BTV, since the stocks on them are better/nicer.

Are they in a similar price range? As I am expecting a son next week, and looking at a new centerfire rifle.

Boyds is having a sale now, you can pick up a BTV style stock and new bottom metal to put on a FV rifle for $75 or so...
