I know this isn't a sniper rifle and I know it's not vintage, but this has always been the section to share and discuss rare and interesting firearms that wouldn't generate very much discussion in their usual sections. Due to it's rarity and historical interest, I've decided to post this pistol here.

I recently purchased a legit Mk27 Mod 1 and I already had the correct Trijicon SU-291 on hand. I've never seen another Mk27 with SU-291 in private hands, so this could be the very first civilian set-up like this with the real optic! The pistol also has the correct military UID laser engraving on the underside of the trigger guard. The box has the correct model number and a blue label. It needs taller sights, so that's the next step (please let me know if you have any suggestions).

I'm still looking for a Glock Mk27 Mod 2 and I'd be willing to pay quite a bit to get one! I have another SU-291, so I'm halfway there already, lol.

Here's photos of my 2 NSN marked RMR's (SU-291/PVS). They're pretty rare, I've only seen a few others. They came in military packaging and the instruction manual even show that these have an NSN number laser engraved.

Here's a few pics of the Mk27 Mod 2, the only difference between the Mod 2 and Mod 1 is the threaded barrel. You can also see the engraved NSN number on the RMR, this is the main feature that separates it from the commercial ones.

Very cool! Getting that gun into a SOF-wide program after all the years of piecemeal issue (along with the ammo around the same time) was a good move by G8 after a decade and a half of procurement thru all kinds of random channels.

Glock has trickled a handful out on a case by case basis to support small charity auctions, etc. but it’s probably the rarest gun they’ve made thousands of.

Hey... AWESOME MK27 Mod 1!! Did you ever find the the Mod 2?.. If not, would you wanna part with your 2nd SU-291?

    Nice pistol.

The one "holy grail" gun I am waiting on is an issued rifle when the MK20s get sold off.

The early ones have the FDE anodizing that is straight orange. You don't see pics of it because none of the super early contract runs went on the civilian market, but the really early issue guns were fucking Trump fresh spray tan orange.

    I want one..

    But that Glock is sweet.

By years and use this belongs on this thread.
Funny how over the years Big Army has stepped in and kept audit authority over SF, and a lot went away. Always with an eye on politics in mind. The big reason we went with the M9 was to appease Italy and help maintain our bases in their country. The M9 certainly wasn't the best choice. While I'm pretty biased toward .45's, I do realize that a number of quality 9mm's could have been chosen over the Beretta. Again, politics. Everyone I know has pretty much liked these. Reliability is through the roof compared to many other handguns. My dislike of them is that they feel and shoot (to me) like a brick. Not a heavy brick. Just not the precision I'm trying to garner out of a handgun.
