i will be getting a scope for a first time long range rifle build. i have experience in hunting rifles thats it. i will be getting a scope for a 308 SPS and the scope manufacturer's site states the scope has 68 MOA of adjustments for wind and elevation. we all know manufacturers don't always have accurate info although they should. my question is what MOA bases do i need to get to 1000 yds. thanks.

Re: MOA on bases

It will depend on a number of factors.. Conditions, bullet choice, barrel length, the list goes on and on..

An example:
168gr at a 100yd zero will commonly require an additional
42MOA (+ or -)to reach 1000 yards.

I have a 20MOA base on my 308, and it works for me.
