A friend's wife had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital yesterday. She couldn't breath because of having a severe anxiety attack because some asswipe or asswipes are texting parents and telling them thier sons or daughters have been killed in action. My friend was able to contain himself, he called his son's wife who is also a marine on base in California, she was was able to work through channels to find out he was okay. She told my friend that his son was not the only one that had thier parents texted with a false death report, and that it was being investigated.

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

That is the fucking lowest of the low to do something like that....

Many years ago when I was in the army someone rang my wife at 2am and told her I had been killed in an accident on an exercise... My wife was 4 month pregnant at the time and the fright caused her to loose the baby. Never found out who it was and I will happily bury the little cocksucker if I ever find out who did make the call...

That is sickening....

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

I'd look into the Rear D for a breach of FRG contact info.

People should understand perfectly clear that ANY notice of death will be in person by a branch rep and a chaplain. Any other means is out of protocol and false.

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

Cavescout;

You get a call like that and protocol goes out the window.... people will panic regardless....

When I was injured, Chaplin and one of the officers visited my wife and told her...She asked them was I dead and they said no...

She still gets upset when replaying the story to people... She maintained that once I wasnt dead I would pull through...me, Im like a bad does of the clap... very hard to get rid of...

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

yes, people will panic, but, it needs to be drilled into loved one's heads by service members to not believe shit until they see a few sets of dress uniforms walking to the door.

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

God, that's horrible. I cannot think of much worse that you could do to a military family. This made me take a second to remind my wife the protocols for this kind of stuff though. Don't believe anything that comes from someone other than a chaplain representing the unit. Still, karma's a bitch and I'd love to see it catch up to the crankcalling douchebags.

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

wtf? who the fuck are you? I reiterated to my parents many times not to believe shit unless a dude in a dress uniform was telling it to them. I understand a mother's reaction no matter what would be to panic. However, many times service members are too lax about really educating their family on the process and could lead to similar situations. I'm not saying that was the case here, but I'm speaking in generalities. What happened with the service member's mother in the OP is horrible, but I'm not sure where your passive aggressive stab at me came from.

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

What passive aggressive stab are you talking about,I was simpliy stating that the mother was weak and that you was a strong man in this kind of situation, Iam sorry if I offended you in any way.
With that said, Who the fuck do you think you are.

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

I agree with Cav but can damn sure see a Mom freaking regardless of how informed she has been made. Regardless the fucks who have been doing this should be run through with a broken broom stick starting in ass and existing through mouth, add feces to stick.

What does that even mean?

Re: Mom's Son in Afghanistan

When that little bastard rang my wife he woke a pregnant woman, terrified her senseless. Claimed he was from the barracks... I was on the ground and away from comms... About 6am I get a message to get to an LZ as a chopper was picking me up to get me back to barracks... CO and her dad who was my sgt at the time meets me off the bird and tells me my wife in in hospital... Didnt get the full story until I got to the hospital by which time I was about to explode... MP's investigated it and with the local cops found out that the call was made from the barracks... My wife went through a pretty difficult time for about a year after that....... Even now she finds it difficult to talk about it because she blamed herself for believing it in the first place..This was our first child..

I would happily kick the chair out from underneath any POS and watch the bastard swing that did such a thing to anybody.. Its just the lowest form of bacteria that would do such a thing..... Im gonna stop now because I can feel my blood pressure rising again just talking about it..
