monopod on mcrees chassis

Re: monopod on mcrees chassis

I mounted a short rail section similar to the shot above, but without the rear hand hook piece. It ends up with the whole rifle much lower, but still tall enough to be usable.

When you get a chance, could you please post a pic? Reason I ask is I want to put a monopod on my Mcree as well, but the issue of it raising the rear more than is desirable seems like a true issue to be considered.

I loved the stability of the monopod when I had one, and it provides it in droves. But the issue of it raising the rear, even at its lowest setting, always irked me.

The rifle is level, and the bipod is locked at 45 forward. The rounds are 165 grain Hornady handloads. The monopod is BT-12QK with a BT-15 rail. The screws are 10/32 from the hardware store.

I did have to move the right hand cheekrest outboard about 1/8" using washers as spacers due to the low height of the cheekrest and the folding button on the monopod. The cheekrest covers the fold release button on the monopod, so in this configuration I cannot fold the bipod, but it's really not a big deal to me. If at some time in the future I wanted to be able to use the folding feature, I could cut the bottom edge of the left cheekrest and be able to fold the monopod forward.
