Most Bang for the $ 17HMR vs Small Cal Centerfire

Has anyone done a full life cost of a 17 HMR vs a small caliber centerfire like a 17 cal, 204 cal, 22 cal etc when you reload?
Factor in the barrel life, cost of bullet components, bulk 17 HMR's.
Is there a clear cost winner between them if you like to plink a lot?

A 22 hornet provides more performance, and would probably be cheaper than a 17HMR if one reloads.

lt80,

For fun, kids, wife and good practice; you just can't beat the .17 HMR. 1/2 MOA capability, reaches 200 yds with ease, 100 rounds at under $20.00; just have to spend the $700 on a good gun, scope and rings.

Don't know about a full life study, still haven't worn out the first one. Ease of cleaning, lack of reloading time, lack of ammo sorting, etc; make it worthwile.
