Once again youve either missed or skirted my point.
Its about the freedom to make your own choices and not have the gubmint, or a bunch of pious religious hypocrites, dictate them for you.
Basically I agree, it cheapens both individuals...but thats their right. "Life, Liberty, the pursuit of happiness."
Are you so righteous that you should be able to chose whats right for for another. If you think so then you shame the very values you served to protect.
BTW, did you ever read the link on the Eleusenian Mysteries I sent?
I get your point.
The point is the Communists sell this as having a moral equivalency of Mother Theresas efforts.....lets normalize it.
If they promoted it as "Hey you want to be a shameless 'ho go right ahead but you get no public support for your poor choice" that would be fine.
What will happen is we will than have 'ho licensing, the 'ho Bureau and all the additional growth of govt this shit brings.
and...
The people promoting it are not doing it with the idea of "Feedom" in mind.
Its to corrode "traditional" values and breakdown society.
When shit has gone to shit their stripes will change and instead of freedom they will offer "Order" in exchange for freedom and people will gladly make the exchange.
Our level of freedom can only be wielded by a just and moral people.
I understand you are particular about peoples definitions of "the moral" but basically if you are not invested in "The Golden Rule" than you need some limitations on your actions.
I dont care if you wear a cross, crescent, turban, or rub buddahs belly everything about your chosen deity is secondary to the Golden Rule.
Regards "The Mysteries"
Having my kids ask me questions about life/death caused me to really think about what is a "human being".
We are pretty advanced with our science and can define exactly what and how the structure of the human body is composed and works.
but...
we cant make "life".
If it were purely mechanics or chemistry we should be able to put all the parts together and create something living.
but we cant.
There is a "spark" and like the law of Conservation of Mass the "spark" just is.
It can not be created or destroyed.
The body may wear out and fail but that "spark" that we can not determine from where it comes, continues on.
In what form who knows.
Religions in India, Egypt, Greece just about everywhere struggled with that question.
I guess knowing that the thing that makes you, you, will continue despite the termination of the body is a liberating knowledge.
