Trying go figure out the pros and cons on a scope mount vs rings. For me, once a scope is mounted it pretty much stays on that rifle. Also use a lapping bar to align the rings when attaching to the base. So, with a (insert manufacture name) mount, just attach it to the base and you're done??? Other than not having to align the rings, is there any pros / cons?

What type of rifle are you going with? One piece mounts are typically too high for a bolt gun, they work better on AR's..

If you want to go as low as possible, rings.
If you want as light as possible, rings.
If you don't have a lapping bar or bed the rail, a high quality mount reduces the risk of binding.

Bolt action and currently use Seekins low rings on everything. On the AR, using Seekins high rings (30mm, ring height .97) with an Aimpoint red dot but they're too low. That would be a good candidate to try a mount on. Geez, that didn't take too long to talk me into it!!!
