Night Vision Mounting a PVS 14 in front of your scope

Thanks. What if i was only shooting at hogs a max of 50 yds away? Still a bad idea?

The reason i was interested in doing this was to avoid moving my day scope forward where it straddles the receiver and tbe handguard portion of the rail in order to accomodate the pvs.

Thoughts?

Still a bad idea. You are going to have POA/POI issues.

I experiment with this each time I get a new monoc to see just how different the POA/POI is since it will differ w/ each unit. I do this by keeping the IR laser on the weapon with a known zero from point blank to 300m. First, verify the IR laser is still aligned w/ the day optic by looking through the 14 mounted BEHIND the day optic. Then move the 14 out in front and gauge the difference (either by eyeballing or using mils depending on optic). My current 14 moves the POA/POI ~6 feet to one side at 220 yards. The difference is usually pretty substantial.
