Mounting on a badger 30 moa on a heavy contour barrel, medium badger 34mm rings with 1.125" ring height. Objective is about 1/3" above the barrel causing my cheek weld to be higher than I want it. Going to swap in the 1" rings, maybe max 50s.
Any reason not to?
Is the top of the front end of the 30moa mount farther above the barrel than a 20 moa mount would be?

The 30 should be lower than the 20 if they're the same mfgr. You should be fine with the 1" rings. Actually measure the height of the bell over the barrel. You may be able to run seekins rings that are even lower.

Either the front should be lower or the back higher, either way the obj bell will likely be closer to the barrel than with a 20, and the eyepiece higher. Seems to me a good cheekweld is just a dream with a 50 or larger obj, especially in combination with an angled base, without an adjustable cheekrest. Which is the next thing on my list, my obj lense cap barely fits between the bell and barrel and my cheekweld still sucks. Good luck, what do you think of that optic?

No reason not to. I use 1" height rings on my 56mm S&Bs on 20 MOA bases.

I love the new HDMR. Haven't shot with it, still working out the mount. Clear glass, generous eye relief, and the new reticle should be helpful for holdovers and follow, ups. and for ukd.
I measured the clearance between the bell and and the barrel at .3" or so, so I'm going to take the rings down a notch to get the scope a little lower.
Thanks for you help!
