    Hello all,

As the title says, I'm moving to lake Charles in LA maybe within the next two weeks for work. I will be working within Hackberry. Any info anyone would like to share?

    Traffic?
Getaway places for my days off?
    Etc

Had a friend that lived there for a while and she mentioned the frequent flooding.

I'm sure you'll find some good food in Lake Charles, but if you're ever headed to Lafayette or Baton Rouge, you need to stop at the Best Stop Supermarket in the town of Scott. It's about an hour's drive east of Lake Charles on I-10. Take the Hwy 93 exit and go north on 93 about a mile and you will see it over on the left. It's a truly exceptional Cajun meat market that you don't want to miss. Bring a cooler. A big one.

You will need to get a pair of "Hackberry Reeboks" (white rubber boots, you will see when you get there), don't run over alligators on the road, don't eat nutria, I don't remember if they rebuilt the pogie plant in Cameron but if they did, DON'T go to Cameron in pogie season!
