MPA BA Comp - Night Vision Bridge Clearance

Has anyone had any issues the the MPA Night Vision Bridge on the BA Comp Chassis making contact with heavy contour barrels? How much clearance is enough?

I have a new BA Comp Chassis that I'm running a 26" Hawk Hill MTU contour on and the clearance between the barrel and night vision bridge is very thin. If i press up on the barrel I can make it contact the bridge. I saw that MPA offers a spacer kit here: https://masterpiecearms.com/shop/night-vision-bridge-spacers/ but I'd prefer not to buy them if i don't have to.

Unless you need it, take it off. I have one waiting for the barreled action and plan on removing it.

It’s currently off, but I would like to have it on because that’s where I put my hand when shooting off barricades.

I’m running a PROOF competition contour and there’s enough space to run the bridge. No issues with contacting the barrel

I honestly don’t know. I can slide a piece of paper as well. I just think about the slow motion videos and I am always amazed by home much movement there is in the barrel.

Hit the auto parts store and by a couple of sheets of various thickness gasket material. You can cut to fit and use whatever thickness give you a comfortable clearance.

Thats fair. I would think there would be weird things going on down range if there was contact being made

I agree. I just don’t want that MF “Murphy” to sneak up and it start having an effect mid-match and everything go to hell.

I leave mine off- 26"Bartlein M24 - which has +/- 3/32" clearance, it also restricts my using scope caps on the sunshade. But, if the bridge clearance is an issue, it looks as if the frame notching or screw hole clearance would be as well?

That is a good point.

In watching the video that @b6graham posted I can’t help but notice that the deflection of the barrel seems to be more vertical than side to side. Also the suppressor could contribute to a potential increase in barrel whip as well in that video (maybe?).

I guess I might get my nerd on and try and do a test with some chalk (or something) on the barrel under the bridge to see if there is noticeable contact after firing.
