Did a bit of searching but really didn’t see a whole bunch about it... especially the new and improved one. surprised to not see it at more matches... thoughts anyone?

Whats old is New again. They came out in the 80s (plus or minus) for competition so people could reload, and barrel tuners also were a thing. Mostly forgotten for a decade or 2, and we come full circle.
Not seen a new one yet, so no idea. Played with the older model for a while, and a janky home made one from a customer. Both worked, still can work out "why" however.

Ive got one that i used for the better part of last season. Id buy it again. Only thing to be aware of is that when you come off the stage with a catcher full of brass, you've gotta be mindful. After i show clear and insert the chamber flag, i typically exit the stage muzzle up. Brass can and will fall out that way.

No question it saves brass. In the last few matches of last year i think i lost 2 pcs. Before the catcher it was far more. I love not having to look for brass at the end of the stage. Fyi i have the earlier version and its still great.
Cool thank you... just want to get the sense it’s not a trade off sort of situation. I do t enjoy the brass scramble.
I think its worth it just for the convenience/time savings alone. I love shooting a stage and then just walking away. I don't have to put down my gun, go back and hunt for brass all while holding up the next shooter. Its also nice to get my brass back clean, not covered in dust, grass, snow, mud etc. So in my opinion there are quite a few benefits beyond the lost brass issue.
Those are good points and greatly appreciated. I just don’t want to add something to manage to replace something else to manage but your points may give a 3:1 or so.
I have one of the new ones and I like it. It works great for my setup. I am using both “long” marked parts on my TL3 SA since the ejection port is a bit longer than the other actions out there. I dont think the earlier version without the longer parts will work. But im sure MPA will hook you up with the upgraded parts.
As far as brass catching goes, I shoot a dasher so the cost per brass is a bit higher so it is definitely worth it for me. If your particular brass is readily available and no forming, neck turning required, you can buy a lot of replacement brass for the price of the brass catcher.

I have one and feel its well made and easy to adjust. I use it only on practice time. havnt jumped off the ledge using it on a stage. worried about clearing the catcher out of the way and fixing a feed or eject issue b/c of that #Curtislife .
im going to a CRF/ME action this year and am concerned on the ME and how it affects the brass flying (or lack of) out the window. time will tell ..
I wasnt aware they made a Gen2 so it appears of have the OG one. and this year ill have all the more reason to run with since im dancing in that dasher arena and I really hate having to dig through all the 6mm variants.
