Finally finally our elected governor has shown a pair. On his own accord any wolf harassing or threatening livestock north of I 90 is fair game. He has told ranchers he is tired of waiting for the Fed to take action, and they should defend their own stock.
This man is definitely a political animal with further ambitions, but I whole heartedly support his stand on this. Way to go Brian!!!

Are the wolves still a protected species? If they are then I'm not sure he has any authority to issue that order. Ranchers are in a tough spot, but predators come with being a rancher.

He may not be able to prevent the feds from coming in and prosecuting, but what he has said is that state employees will not enforce federal law. Unless the feds are going to send in enforcement, it basically neuters federal protections.
