ok i have done my fair share of site and google searches and have come up with nothing. so ill ask my question here.

i am building a long range bolt gun. i have a rem sendero contoured barrel that will be chambered in 260.
i have been shoping around for muzzle brakes and was wondering if the MB has to be a 6.5? would a 30cal MB work? is 6.8 close enough?

i havent seen too many in 6.5s thats why i have to ask. am i limited?

Re: muzzle brake options

I have an APS Painkiller from Kirby Allen on my 260AI. Upon closing in on completion of this rifle, I don't think I'll really need it, being that it (the rifle) weighs a bit more then I thought it would. The brake also is pretty large. I cannot tell you about how it feels because I haven't put any rounds through this rifle yet. If I recall right, your brake should be .020" larger then the diameter of the bullet, it should still work to some effect if larger then that.

Re: muzzle brake options

Sako Trg Muzzle Brakes have the same size exit hole for the brakes they put on their 308 and 338, very effective design, but most will say the smaller the hole the better it will work. I dont know but the Large breaks with lots of surface area for the gases to push against seem to work best. Most The gases have been let off by the time they get to the exit hole. JMHO
