Muzzle Break on 6.5 Creedmoor

Re: Muzzle Break on 6.5 Creedmoor

I've never shot one but from what I've read the recoil is around %40 less.

It's basically a .308 case with a smaller neck and lighter but more efficient projectiles.

I personally would get one if I built a Creed.

Depends on what you are doing with it.

If you are just sitting around shooting from the bench or prone, you don't need a brake. The rifle will be more comfortable to your senses and your friends without one.

If you are shooting matches where you may find yourself in twisted up positions, shooting from barricades, etc. then a brake is extremely useful for observing impacts and fast followup shots.

It will have less recoil than a 308.

Shooting a 308 now w/o a brake?

Maybe just have it chambered for now. Shoot it then decide.

Re: Muzzle Break on 6.5 Creedmoor

I would do it, another hide member has a badger break on his 6.5CM and after shooting his I had my 6.5 built with one. Easy to observe your impact, even if you not in prefect prone position, which I try to be in as little as possible.

Re: Muzzle Break on 6.5 Creedmoor

I have a .260 Rem (which has about the same recoil as a 6.5CM) in a rifle that weighs about the same as what you are having built. It has a detachable brake. Without the brake, recoil is noticeable but easily managed. With the brake, it feels like a .223 and is really easy to shoot.

As previously mentioned, get it threaded so you can use the brake when it makes sense to.

Re: Muzzle Break on 6.5 Creedmoor

I have two boys that are 11 and 9 and they shoot my 22" barreled Creed with no problems. They can put rounds touching EACH OTHERS shots, prone/bipod and rear bag.

They did it yesterday...

Why not? It makes it so much more pleasant to shoot... Screw those guys next to you...

Even my .243 has a brake...

Re: Muzzle Break on 6.5 Creedmoor

I had Mark at Short Action Customs thread my 260 Rem for a suppressor. While at it I had him fit a Little Bastard brake, and a thread protector. The brake takes the recoil from very manageable down to nill. Guys next to me do not appreciate the brake, but I have options.

Re: Muzzle Break on 6.5 Creedmoor

I put Tubb T2K brakes on my rifles, not only does it reduce the recoil a lot, but it's also a barrel tuner, ie makes your rifle more accurate.

I'd love to see the groups to prove this, adn I'm not talking a pair of 5 round groups, I'm talking a set of 5x5 for each case, minimum.

I see a lot of brakes on light caliber rifles that weigh 10+ pounds and very often the shooter has 2 things in mind:

1) Makes their hits easier to see... this is usually because their form is jacked up.

2) Harass the shooters around them during a match, some even freely admit it during the match. I find this to be absolutely poor sportsmanship. If they're going to pull crap like that I don't feel bad if someone feeds them bad info on a target distance.
