Guys I am buying a sandman K to primarily run on my AR which will have the flashider muzzle device. As an aside I decided to get a muzzle device for my tikka ctr 308.

My question is should I get the break or fh? Is one quieter than the other?

Thanks and be safe

Always use a muzzle brake with a silencer unless you have an actual need for the flash hider when the silencer isn't installed or you don't want the side to side concussion of a brake. You won't be able to perceive any sound variance, especially on a K size silencer. On a bolt action rifle a brake usually makes way more sense anyway.

Brake will serve as sacrificial baffle inside of suppressor and may extend the life of your can's baffle stack. With no can mounted, brake will be louder that flash hider.

Always brake, especially on a K can where I plan to use it on multiple hosts with short barrels. I doubt most of us will ever wear out a Sandman series baffle but it never hurts that you're putting more wear on the $80 mount instead of the can.

Sound difference with the can on is not going to sound better one way or the other. I'd throw a brake on just about everything unless you have a very specific need for the FH.

I used the supplied break for my Sandman-K on a 10" barrel. I have no intention of shooting that pistol without the silencer on it.
Thanks guys for the input. The ar I will be primarily using it on is a 16 inch gun that I will shoot without the can sometimes, but I will always have dual ears on when doing that, and the 308 is mainly a range gun as my hunting rig is a light one.

So based on your in input I am going with the breaks on both, versus my original thought to do a fh on my ar.

Be safe all.

I will be using the -K on a .300 BLK pistol. Just make sure that when you install the brake you time it correctly. Just incase you havent installed a timed brake before, the flat with the 3 ports should be facing up.
