There was discussion earlier this week about the longer storage
of loaded rounds the more neck tension you can expect over time.

I was wondering if somebody here has had there favorite ie.
308 win loads with .335 neck bushing 175smk in storage
for years and noticed big velocity fluctuations ?

Any match cases for that matter.

Re: Muzzle velocities after long term storage.....

My NORMA reloading book indicates that the pressure gradually increases as cartriges age. The micro-welding process of the neck to bullet is a reasonable chemical/physical explanation.

Re: Muzzle velocities after long term storage.....

I have rounds that I loaded 25 years ago that still function fine. The chronograph I had at the time they were loaded didn't give accurate data. But the groups are comparable to what was fired when they were fresh. Where the ammo is stored never gets above 80*F.

Thanks for the input. That is what my theory was anyways. I've
noticed that if I was using a .336 bushing and accidently left
a .332 or .331 I could not tell over a Oehler the difference
in velocity.
