A few years back, a friend gave me an old Essex (read: crap) frame. He'd used it for his first checkering job and didn't want it anymore. So he gave it to me. Later, he handed me a box with the rest of the parts. Some of the parts have been lost over the years, but I still have the thumb safety, slide, frame, and barrel. Recently, I decided I needed to learn how to install a grip safety so, with a Smith & Alexander grip safety and jig, I set to work. I regret not having taken a few before pics. But this is close enough. I figured I might try to breathe some life back into the gun.
