Very nice set up. By looking at your kit you must be one of the "buy once, cry once" kinda guys.

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

Very interesting. Why did you upgrade from the factory stocks, are the ergonomics better on this system? I know Ashbury has some very nice products but I have always found the Sako TRG to fit very good. What impact did it have on accuracy, good, bad, or indifferent? How is the weight now compaired to before? Is it easier to carry, in your hands? Thanks for any feed back.

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

chongoMT ,
you got it !
wink.gif

jbell ,
no , I did not upgraded it from factory stock , I bought a brand new Sako TRG42 action plus the Border barrel & brake and made it assembly by one of the best gunsmith we have over here so no comparison is possible .

The TRG-42 stock is a standard catalog item now. Mod-1, side folding, push button adjustable, unitized top rail, $2555 list price.

You think people writing in the forums are not real ?

True but im sure all he's saying is that people in his area aren't likely to have one in their collection. That's all he is saying. Like in my area, I rarely see precision rigs, and among those there aren't many sitting in $2555 stocks

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

I think what he means is that you don't see an Enzo model all the time, but you do see the Italia models more. At least that's how I would disarm that bomb. LOL!
wink.gif

And speaking of Italia, she still looks bella. As always and forever.

Have a good one PP.

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

The $2555 sounds high until you consider that Sako gets $3000 more for the folder in the US than the fixed stock. I have a TRG folder, and while I like it, I would rather have it in a Saber-Forsst.

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

Hi PP. Very nice setup, I've seen the Ashbury display at SHOT. I'm wondering whether your FOREST stock came in FDE, or if you had to have it painted FDE?

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

I just wanted to say very nice choice on your weapon. I have been looking at the chassis for a while now. I would also like to know what gear bag you have that you are kneeling beside.

Hi OEJ

the only parts that I Gunkoted were the scope , the rings , the barrel and the Muzzle brake , all the other parts ( chassis , forend , stock... ) come in as you see them .

how do you find the stock compared to your AI's? Weight, ergo? </div></div>

BB , thanks !
smile.gif

Well , let's say that you do not save any weight compared to the AI AWM but the SABER-FORSST ergo is far better also because you can make the stock longer and shorter, you can raise the cheeck piece and the limbsaver easily just pushing a button , also you can move the pistol grip forth and back and you can modify even its angle ,

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

Thanks PP

Sounds VERY flexible and great for getting the fit just right to each shooter.

Have you had hands on with the AX yet? That would also be an interesting comparison.

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

PP-All I meant was I'm probably not going to see any out here where Im at.I think what I was saying in your case would be a complement.I would rather have something most others wouldn't especially when it's of quality kit.I do believe you as far as owning it and stuff and didn't even doubt it,but honestly even out here in Southern California, most folding stocks are available to LE/military only, luckily i'm military but don't see spending $2555 for a stock that isn't going to fit my bill.Under a K and I might play. You have a very nice rig and I'm actually very envious of you.Goodshootin'

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Widowmaker0001</div><div class="ubbcode-body">...Keep us posted on how she shoots.. </div></div>

As you can see from the pix she shots nicely , there are 9 rounds in just one hole at 100 meters and three rounds in 0,71" at 300 meters , it'd be 1/3 MOA @ 100 meters and 1/4 MOA @ 300 meters , that was just during the barrel break-in procedure ( I hate the BBI procedure also because it'd not be needed IMHO but who knows
blush.gif
.... ) .

The first time I went shooting in the field ( with perfect weather cond ) the first cold bore round was an head-shot @ 850 meters and the second one was another head-shot @ 970 meters far away , our targets had the dimensions of the IDPA standard target but made in steel , so I'm quite satisfied

They wont be available till May though. So I am told....

Re: My new Ashbury SABER-FORSST-Sako TRG42 combo (pix)

Pico,

What's the weight of the rifle? Will you have any videos of it being fired? is the bipod a custom one specific for the stock (it looks that way, as though they're independent of each other and attach directly to the stock).

Thanks
