First off I don't have any pics now as the lighting in my office sucks and it's raining outside but pics will be added soon.
dpkdavis built this for me. I gave him a Remington 700 adl in 30-06 and he built it into a varmint contour 308 on the long action. It's an older rifle with the old style trigger. He put a good base and rings on it and mounted my scope. Put it in a HS Precision stock. Threaded the barrel and installed a brake. Installed a bolt knob and Harris bipod.
We discussed that I wanted a gun I could get more serious about long range shooting with but one I could still hunt with and he nailed it. I couldn't be more happy.
We met at a local range last night to get it zero'd and he spent a few hours with me on some basics. It's funny how mentally I know what I'm not supposed to be doing but it really does take someone else to call you out on it and offer advice on corrections.
We spent at least as much time chatting as we did shooting but it was a great experience all around. This easily went from a cheap hunting rifle to a favored gun in my safe that has a permanent spot.
Not only did I get a good rifle but he also took the time to take me from a basic military trained shooter and talked me through the basics of becoming a better precision shooter. Went through logs and cleaning and PMCS. We also worked on multiple targets and not just groups although we did look at the multiple targets and combine them mentally into groups mostly to see that I'm consistently making the same new guy mistakes.
Just figured I would post this up as a thank you to dpkdavis. Not only was it a great build but a good experience and jump start for my shooting.
