Sighted in a range rifle of mine today. 6.5 creedmoor shooting federal gold medal match Berger’s. I was planning on working up some loads but may just keep shooting this ammo. Rifle is a 700 in a Hs precision stock.

I was going to use my buddy chrono today but he was tied up. We haven’t really been shooting much past 400yards but plan on getting further out when deer season gets over.

At short range es doesn’t matter that much. You can shoot tight groups at 100, but once you stretch it out to 800+, high es will kill you. Vertical dispersion can be huge. Just be aware of that as you move out to longer ranges. Just run 10-20 rounds over a chrono and get an idea how consistent the velocity is, that way if you start to miss at longer range, you can more accurately determine the cause.

Thanks for the advice sir, everybody I’ve talked to on the hide as been helpful. Between all the knowledge from members and the online training I’m sure I’ll be able to further this hobby.
