Finally got it in, and put together. I have right at $1300 into this build and am really happy with it.

Rifle is a Savage 10FCP 5R with a 20 inch barrel, the scope is a Vortex PST 4-16 with MOA reticle.

Have some Hornady 178 BTHPs to figure out a load on, and a bunch of 168 BTHPs to practice with.

Re: My Savage 10FCP 5R

Nice! What did you have done to it? I have a Savage 10PC with a 5R barrel. Shoots extremely well.

Re: My Savage 10FCP 5R

Well, I use the term "build" a bit loosely maybe. I meant put together.

What barrel length is yours? any loads to suggest?

Re: My Savage 10FCP 5R

Mine is 20" and I regularly shoot 168gr hand loads. My go to powder for .308 and 30-06 is H4895. Watch what powder you use ... some are temperature sensitive and their performance characteristics will change (e.g., IMR4895). H4895 works hot, cold with consistent performance.

Re: My Savage 10FCP 5R

Varget or Re-15 + those 168's will shoot well. You picked a good rifle and a good scope. I can't help you with the 178's, they are purportedly better for the 1000 yd shooting buy I honestly haven't ever been out that far.

Re: My Savage 10FCP 5R

Kilo I have a savage 10 that is cut down to 18". I shoot 175 bergers. Only 2 powders I have ever used were RL-15 and Varget. I stuck with Varget. Either one should do you just fine.
