Heres my first AR, I like shooting longer range more than short and love the MK12'S and SPR style guns. I'm a budget build kind of guy so be kind lol.

PSA complete lower came with carbine buff and std. 6 pos stock : 129$ shipped

PSA complete upper
18" SS 223 Wylde 1:7
Came with nickel boron BCG, mpi bolt and charging handle : 360$

Ergo deluxe grip
Magpul VG
Weaver SPR mount 29$ at Wally world (it's actually pretty solid).
Some rails, covers, QD bipod mount off Amazon.

traded a 12g mossberg rifled barrel I had laying around for the A2 stock kit+ FFL transer fee on the lower.
Found the 9x13 Harris knock off for 20$ in the bargin bin, it's solid. I have a few of the same but 6x9s.

Scope is a Primary Arms 4x14x44 ffp Rgrid which they dont make anymore. Ive had it on other guns and LOVE it. 4x has illuminated horseshoe, has 13 mils in the reticle also, with wind mils.

Thinking about something a tad smaller but since most of my shooting will be longer range with this gun and I plan on building a 14.5" pistol soon, I like the magnification.
The new gen 2 PST 2x10x32 has my eye for this gun.
Now I need another scope for my .22 bolt gun lol, that 13 mils was nice getting me to 300 with sub sonic ammo.

I know there are much nicer, higher end guns out there but I was on a budget and considering I think I ended up with a pretty sweet setup, it actually isn't crazy heavy. Popping the bipod off helps a lot, plus I'm 6'4", the gun feels perfect to me.

I'll be using it to bang steel and hopefully shoot some matches once I get it dialed it.
Got a good amount of Hornady Black 75gr bthp, let's hope it likes that cause its affordable.
Anybody have experience shooting 55gr stuff out of a 1/7?

Now I just need to find some land out here in eastern Ohio so I can stretch it's legs. Hoping to get out to 800, and play around at 1000 obviously being realistic. I do hear these barrel are shooters. Well see I'll do a range report when I'm done.

Should be a good time tomorrow figuring out what it likes, also have a ton of 75gr bthp, 55gr bthp Frontier by Hornady.
Then Monday I'm going out with a buddy who has a range out to 1700, I'll be happy if I get consistent at 6-800y lol.

Good luck with your build. I hope it shoots for you.
You probably will be good to 600, but by 800 with an AR-15, it can get mighty tricky. You have very likely gone sub sonic by then. Not all rounds do well through the transonic zone. Some are better than others.
I just don’t want you to be disappointed if you’re not getting super solid results that far out.

Maybe you will, and it won’t matter. ?

My best was with Hornady Black 223 75 bthp which I'm fine with at around 13$ a box, averaged around 1-1.5.
I need to work on my fundamentals and that milspec trigger is gonna have to go.
Here's just a few other groups. Just wanted to find which it liked and get it zeroed for distance shooting tomorrow.

Nice looking AR, looks like it has potential! Yes, mil-spec triggers on AR's can be a problem shooting good groups! I'm trying to convince myself, I "need" a 'Precision' AR upper to play with @ longer distances.........

I was out today 435y wailing on a 10x10 square (couldn't tell groups really, was shooting with 2 guys that had 6.5 bolt guns) , 632y was smacking the hell out of a 12" mini ipsc, moved back to 825, mirage was tricky but I got some hits with regular Hornady Black 223 75gr bthp. Scope was kind of a limiting factor and I'm still getting used to the ergos of an AR and the heavy trigger.
Moved back to 998y switched to the 73gr 223 ELDs after only seeing a few splashes with the Black 75s, mirage kept getting worse, actually got close with the 73s about 3.5 less mils elevation that the 75s. I'm thinking some 75gr ELD in 5.56 would help bump up the velocity and BC slightly. A 12" target is small for me at 998y, got a couple close splashes but no joy. I was also shooting off a concrete block about 2' high by 5' long, kneeling over the edge of it. mirage was much less once you got off the ground prone.

Fun trip, second time out with the gun. Got some good data for the closer distances.

Now I'm thinking I need a 224 Valkerie upper to keep up with my 6.5 buddies. At least to 1,000 or so. Then if I get and upper I might as well put together another gun lol hmmm....
