Maybe not the correct forum but this is the one that I have been visiting the most. The reason for the change was that I was having trouble with my recticle blending with the solid black dots, So I added some contrast to the center of it.

Re: My version of the practical tactical target....

I had a similar experience so I made 1.0 MOA dot and 0.5 MOA dot targets with red dots using Powerpoint. I personally find the red dots a little easier to see; the old eyes ain't what they used to be! These targets will print on 11x17 paper from any color printer that can take that size paper. Due to space limitations, there are only 15 dots per page, and no specific "sight-in" dot, but I usually use a separate splatter target for sight-in anyhow. If anyone would like the PP files, just PM me and I'll be happy to send them to you.

Here is a copy of the target that I LOVE to shoot. I know it isn't a dot drill target, but it is a challenge all the same. I shoot this one with Rimfire @ 50yards... and Centerfire @ 100yards. This one will definately put you to the test!!

z-71rat. That looks like a fun target. Blown up it would work in pistol craft. What is the overall size of the target? It looks like a good challenge. What's the best score you've recorded?

Re: My version of the practical tactical target....

Z71rat's target is a great idea for a match. Hand a shooter a card with 5-10 numbers on it, and give them X seconds to hit as many as possible. Put the target at odd distances like 67 yards, 119 yards, 136 yards and so on.

I like the red dot target too, but the Leupold scope's coatings make resolution of the edges of any red/orange dots difficult to resolve. In my experience, Leupold's have an easier time with precision resolution of blue/green end of the spectrum.
But I really like the idea behind the target.

Re: My version of the practical tactical target....

I have the target as a .jpg file. Shoot me a PM with your email address and I will send you the copies that I modified.

I have been printing the targets on a basic piece of computer paper... 8.5 x 11.0.

That is basically the way that I have been shooting these targets. I usually have my partner/spotter call out a particular number. I have 5 seconds from the call to find the number and send it. If I don't make it in the 5 second time frame, I get -0- points for that number. I definately adds stress to the situation.

We also add in an element from the FBI Sniper Training Course, in that my partner/spotter draws numbers to see how long I have to sit at the rifle looking through the scope. So far the longest time I had to sit and wait was 7 minutes. Trust me, you will rethink your scope height as well as cheek welds. This part can get really tiring. But it is a TOTAL BLAST!!

All the above will definately show you what kind of shooter you are... trust me!!
