A guy I know came across some ammo but don't know how to figure out what grain it is without taking one apart and weighing it. A plain brown box that has an "HP" inside a circle, below that it has this, 20 cartridges. Cal. 7.62X51 Ball.

Another person said it was 147gr. M80. Is there a way to know for sure? Thanks for the info.

What does the brass say? Unknown ammo gets pulled down for weight and to see if it's corrosive (nail test). Pull it down if your going to shoot it. My 2¢

is there a way to tell what grain bullet? Or do you need more info?

Hirtenberger is good stuff! I used to run that and Radway Green (RG) through my FALs back when they were abundant. I still have some RG, but the HP is gone, I believe.
