N560 and 6.5x47 Lap.

Re: N560 and 6.5x47 Lap.

Jon,
Glad casey edited his post, there is no data.
I tried it last summer with a 130grr bullet, full case of powder, maybe 2600fps, just too slow of a powder.

N550 works great.

Re: N560 and 6.5x47 Lap.

Thanks, Milo. Jon, we who've run it at our low, heavy, warm altitudes use Alliant Reloader 15, Hodgon Varget, Hodgon 4350, and Vv N550, with the first two the more relied upon, and Varget to be the most popular propellant. A few shooters have found Alliant Reloader 17 reliable and accurate. In our guns, components and environment, we've all found 37.5 grains of either Varget or RL 15 to be the more accurate charge with either the 123 Scenar or a 130 - same charge. I would begin two grains less with your bullets seated COAL 2.7" for the 123 Scenar, and 2.8 for the 130, generally, and see what you get. Before long, you will be happy. If the gun is set up right the round will shoot.

NOTE: These loads work in our environment (Texas, LA, MS) in all seasons. Be careful. This round is high pressure according to evaluations of chamber pressures. Rifles with fat firing pins and holes have allowed primer extrusion which could be harmful to the shooter. Wear eye protection ALWAYS.

P.S. Welcome to the Hide. Wear a thick skin and laugh it off when a bully pops in. We'll take care of him.

Casey/Milo

Many thanks fellas. Yes perhaps 560 is too slow as you suggest. I do have alot if 560 around the place which is why I was curious.

Think I will forget about using it though and stick with the recommended powders.

Thanks for coming back.

Jon

Jakelley,
No way would it work. You would need like a 220 gr bullet.
