Nationwide 2A rally tomorrow...!

My son and I will be in Sacramento tomorrow. Told all my apathetic friends and gun owners to join me. Looks like I’m going to make new friends.
Ouch! That’s pitiful. This is what makes me wonder how many gun owners there actually are. With numbers like that it makes us look weak!
Yes, actually it’s very surprising to me. Pretty much everyone I know is pro 2A so in my world I expected much greater numbers.
people are too scared to have their faces shown as being pro 2A. Many support it pribvately but dont have the courage to do it publicly where media will surely be watching and pasting your face all over the www. id also imagine in this snowflake run world we live in today many are concerned for the jobs if it is found that they attended something like this.
So, nationwide probably not even close to the 500k that marched against the 2A. This isn’t good.
Well, when our side doesn't have New York and Hungarian Expat socialists bankrolling bus-loads of "do what we tell you to do" sheep running the show... it's hard to get a major turnout.
If anyone had asked the Washington Marchers what they were really marching for... most would say "I don't know... I'm just against guns." Besides, when you don't have a job and live in your parents basement... you have plenty of time to wave signs, carry on and vandalize the Jefferson Memorial (yeah, that happened yesterday.)
Ask anyone who showed up in the State capitals today what they stood for and they could give you a lecture on Constitutional Republics and the value of a Bill of Rights. And those folks did it on their own. They are the grassroots.... not the astroturf bus-riders funded by buttinski-Mrs. Kravitz wannabe's.
Ice storm here put the damper on things. I spent the day celebrating by restoring two Civil War Cannons back to functioning status. And running a belt through my SAW here at Schloss Nitrocellulose, just to remind the neighbors that magazine restrictions... don't mention belts.
Keep the faith, folks. We may look weak, but Nov. 2016 proved otherwise. Make sure that Nov. 2018 shows how powerful the "Rabble in Arms" really is.

I hear you about midterms and yet my concern is that if Pa passes this shit I lose weapons and mags . I don't want to replace these a year or more from now when this gets sorted out . It is illegal to infringe my rights to begin with . If these bullshit laws get passed I am an instant felon and that's bullshit . I have invested fifty two years of contributution . I've served as a volunteer adjunct of the Juvenile Courts to keep kids who did the same stupid shit that we did as kids out of the system .
If not for a back injury during a fitness evaluation I would be a Police Officer . I have stepped in as a citizen and defended a victim of white on black racial violence .
I can go on and on and my fifty two years of striving not to just stay out of prison no . I have endeavored to contribute . And now an ideology that seeks to bridle me and strip me of my rights may very well negate not just my contribution but the contribution of millions . They seek to steal my childrens birthright. They seek to defy God himself . I will vote in the midterms but the antidote to the poison is quite a ways off . Once disarmed they can steal the midterms. hence the rush to disarm .
Even if all of the arms are not collected by the Midterms the potential crimes committed by the left will not be fully apparent due to the fact that we still play by the rules . By this time we will be felons and partially disarmed .
As evidenced by the lack of turnout yesterday people are gonna role over . We are at end game and I am disgusted .

What did I miss about Starbucks? And I agree with Alphatreedog. I think PA is going to be next, then Indiana, then CO. It’s spreading, just like they want it to and the lack of turnout yesterday really really hurts our cause, imo. It makes us look weak and few and far in between. It give ammo to their argument that people that want/own guns are the anomaly which further hurts us on a national level. It’s just like the states, United we stand, divided we WILL fall. What yesterday told me is that most of us just don’t care or that many of us are that arrogant or naive to think more control will not pass.

Just trying to help with a little perspective here but outside of this thread I never heard anything about this and don't know anyone else that did either. It was not advertised very well. I think you guys are assuming that everyone knew about this. I'm not here to argue...just trying to shed some light on why there were low turnouts.

I think a part of what's at work here is a simple fact. The Moonbats and their Resist, Antifa, and the like demonstrations have basically turned the entire country off against public demonstrations. In essence, they've telegraphed that anyone out there standing around, toting signs, and running their mouths are ALL a bunch of fringe crazies.
It doesn't matter what the message is anymore; people are up to here with any and all of it.
The 2A message these days, my 2A message these days is; IMHO, don't waste your breath, the time for talking is past. It's getting time to get braced up for the next stage.
November 2016 proved, fast and final, that getting all red in the face, jumping up and down, screaming slogans quoting eloquent but ancient oratory, waving huge signs, and all other manner of acting out is not only unnecessary, it's getting to be downright counterproductive. When we step up to the mic and the camera, we're jumping onto the same street theater stage as Resist, Move ON, BLM, Antifa, and all the other Moonbats.
We can do better than that.
To me, it's about confidence and composure, calm deportment, showing respect for due process, and respect for sensibilities of the very folks whose support we seek. Otherwise, there isn't dime's worth of difference between us and the Moonbats.
Talking to politicians has always been a poor bet at its very best, and especially so nowadays; because they don't give a sh*t about what's right or wrong anymore. To them, the politics is not just the main thing, it's everything.
They don't give shit anymore about who's right or wrong; all they care about is air time, and a good profile shot accompanied by a catchy sound bite.
...And for politics, a good controversy is The Top, and Gun Control is a fat baby with a good, long track record of reliably delivering pawn-thrall voters to the polls.
Face it, nobody listens to our side (besides us) anymore. We've talked ourselves out and the numbed listeners until they're deaf. If that was going to turn any tides, it would have happened long ago.
So quit spinning your wheels trying to curry the favor of the ones who don't care anyway.

You might have just found out but it was pretty well advertised on most forums and even social media and pro gun video outlets. I even posted a reminder in this forum the day before. But, I’m hoping you are right and that it was simply a logistics problem. The weather for a large part of the country didn’t help either.
What did going out accomplish? The politicians already know the guns rights guys are middle aged men with beards. The media does an eye-rolling mockery. Nobody gets converted or changes their position.
Why did the David Hogg kids do it? Because they had millions of kids and a ton of media coverage that made millions more want to join in.
We can't compete in this arena.
You should know by now it's just like abortion or anything else that people identify with as a single issue. The pros and the antis will milk this for fund raising for fifty years. There is no reason to solve it, win, or compromise because both sides profit. Just send a letter out, "Your 2A is in danger!!!" and a million bucks in contributions rolls in. Why would they want that to stop?
Instead take the money you'd spend on travel and posterboard and contribute to a pro-gun right wing group. Bypass the limp wrists at the NRA and the Republicuck Party and give it to something like AltRight.com or similar, people who are actually moving the entire conversation rightward and might actually do something, anything....

I attended the one in Salem, Oregon (a socialist state for sure) but the turnout was better than I expected. Still not good. The paper reported 300. I thought more like 500 to 800. I tell everyone my duck is 12" so maybe 300 was accurate!
We had some really good speakers (a lot were involved in politics) and the made time for a few of us in the wind and cold.

So after reading about this event on the Hide, I had to google around to find out what you guys were talking about. I thought it was odd that I never heard of it, I'm pretty deep in the weeds on gun rights, gun news, events, etc. I pride myself in being a pretty big gun nerd. The one thing that I don't do is facebook and from what I understand this was promoted there. Then today, the biggest gun site on the net ran a story about it and they too weren't even aware of this event beforehand. Below is a link to the article, then I quoted a comment from one of the authors of the site that is very telling. Bottom line, this was promoted very poorly...read the comment in bold.

I’ve also been involved with directly lobbying, advising, and writing firearms related legislation in my state for a couple of decades. I’ve directly advised 3 different governors and two presidents. I’ve testified to the house and senate on several occasions. I’m a firearms manufacturer, an FFL/SOT holder and a member of several industry organizations. I’m an NRA certified rifle instructor. I’m a member of a few different “gun rights” organizations. I’m a veteran, and a PO. I’ve done tons of interviews relating to guns over the years.
No one called or contacted me about the meeting in Austin.
If I’m that involved, and no one contacted me, how on earth are the rest of the gun owning public supposed to know about this stuff?
By the way, I’m on a whole lot of lists. How do I know? Because a lot of firearms related organizations constantly email, call, and mail me asking for money.

I knew about the event but I couldn't make it to Denver. It's spring and there's a lot of work to get done as the irrigation begins and summer starts up. I did make it to the local gunshow. There are a little better than 27,000 people in our county. About 2,500 went to the gunshow. As it opened everyone there said a prayer, listened to a local lady sing the national anthem, and recited the Pledge of Allegiance as members of the local VFW proudly held the flag. Then we looked at, traded, and talked about guns.
Come November, we're going to vote.

My thoughts on what we can do. First off, we can stop worrying about being identified as conservative, gun owning, activist, resistors. They can already find us with minimal effort. Are you a veteran? Do you have a carry permit? Do you belong to any gun advocacy groups? Do you shoot any three gun, NRA, PRS, etc. competitions? Have you bought any ammo or components in bulk for .308, .338, 9mm, .45. Have you purchased more than three firearms from an FFL in the last four years? I'm sure you guys can think of a slew more identifiers to include are you a member of SH. With access to the data how hard would it be to write a search program that would profile most any of you who have posted here?
Keep in mind that the Obama administration identified Veterans as being prone to "terrorism" recruitment https://www.cbsnews.com/news/dhs-domestic-terror-warning-angers-gop/. Seems we are pretty visible if anybody bothers to look.
The Parkland shooting was Feb. 14th. Within a few days demonstrations were called for by Parkland teachers. The Never Again title was coined. The demonstration. at the state capitol was organized. By Feb. 23 there Go Fund Me account had 2.3M. I have no idea whether that number reflects the huge donations reportedly from Soros, the Clooneys or Oprah. During all of this there was twenty-four hour news coverage by everyone from MSNBC to Fox News cable. They were supported by numerous liberal organizations who provided people, funding and direction. There were buses, parking areas, lists of people that volunteered their homes for lodging, etc. The main stage platform in DC had two jumbotrons so people could see from the back of the crowds. If we contrast the above to the so called pro-gun demonstrations at state capitols yesterday, it is easy to see why the turnout was minimal. So we know how the other side did it, the question is how do we do it? I would pick the Second Amendment Foundation as the organization to build on.
We need to construct an alliance of like minded people. Examples are state hunter's associations, species specific organizations (DU, RMEF, etc.), farm bureaus, shooting orgs. (Trap, threegun, skeet, NRA, cowboy action shooting, sporting clays, etc.) and more. Getting these groups on board will not be easy. They are covetous of their membership and resources but certainly a case can be made that they need to support the 2nd amendment. A simple first step is to change your voter registration to independent. The two major parties know they can depend, generally, on their registered voters. The independents are the ones they cultivate.
Consider what the Tea Party accomplished. They sent the left into a complete meltdown.

About that lottery in 1969; my number was 364. In essence, Ladybird would have gone before me.
I was already out of the Marines (Feb 1968), a few more months back home from the 'Nam (November 1967); and yes, I was a Draftee Marine.
I seriously believe that even though being a Marine put me smack up on the DMZ; the also training gave me the necessary edge to make it back home more or less intact.
