or as you could say ....Not using any sights or scopes training , just basic point and shoot !
Anyone else out there do this ? On our AR platforms we get clay pigeons and hand throw "rabbits " at about 75-100yds and shoot at them with No sights on the weapons just for shits and grins .
To us it makes sense , say that you dropped your rifle and knocked off or broke your optics ..then got in a bind and Had to use your rifle ? shouldn't you have some idea where it's going to shoot ??
Or are we just off our rockers ?

Intuitive shooting is what you are talking about. You are using a means other than sights to understand where the barrel is pointed.

Off your rocker? Yes. But what you are talking about makes sense. Obviously with no tool to get a precise shot, it makes it that much harder, however, when you practice with sights/scope than you naturally have movements that take you right back there. This actually can be accurate. Obviously not as much with a leupold sittin on top, but if you can use same body functions, and muscle memory on how to do it right, than you can "in a jam" be accurate enough to get you out of the jam. Then puts sights/scope back on, and get accurate. I would be upset if I knew someone tried to hunt like that, as it is cruel, and a waste that someone else could get. As stated previously, Perfect practice makes perfect. Practice just makes practice perfect.

Just make sure you have a clear backdrop for as far as the bullet will fly. That would seem to be the hard part in most places in the midwest- not a lot of places with ~4000 meters of safe backdrop.

I've heard of guys shooting clays with rifles, I'd like to try it with a sighting system. It sounds pretty difficult.
