Naval Aviation

Re: Naval Aviation

My son was on the Carl Venson. Back in 1994 I had the pleasure of taking a Tiger Cruse on that ship. After their sea tour I flew to Hawaii and road back on it to Oakland.

I got to watch these guys and they were amazing. Not just the pilots but the whole crew, Talk about team work.

They put on quite an Air Show for us.

If you ever get a chance for a Tiger Cruse, jump on it. Trust me, for an old infantry guy it was quite educational.

Re: Naval Aviation

I was aircrew in the back of CODS (Carrier On-board Delivery). Used to carry cargo mail & passengers to & from the carriers. I've got over 500 cats & traps in the back end. Nothing like shooting off in a couple seconds sitting backwards.

When I worked with Naval Aviation a couple years ago one of the instructor pilots told me this

The three best things in life are a good landing, a good orgasm, and a good shit.

A night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities to experience all three at the same time.

And my favorite, cuz thsi is how I fly RC!

Re: Naval Aviation

Great videos, I have to have my kids watch these. Watching the horizon move up and down makes me homesick for the Sea(I can't believe I just said that) when I was in I couldn't wait to get out. Now things like that bring back memories of the "Good things" from a six month deployment.

Re: Naval Aviation

India has been trying to get its first aircraft carrier into operation for several years. The Indian parliament recently passed a motion allowing for the payment of the latest cost overruns on the project. It's buying some old Russian ship.

That will undoubtedly give China a further push for finalizing its long awaited carrier. What remains to be seen is the issues in bringing about safe carrier operations for these two novices in this area of naval aviation.

And our kids' heroes are ball players and musicians, who make millions for playing games and singing songs.

How fucked up is that?
