Rifle Scopes Near Alpha mount on an AW

I was wondering if anyone was running an alpha mount on a AW with a picatinny rail. I was considering one in 34mm, but need to know if it has clearence for the bigger erector scopes like PH and S&B etc.

For example: The AW 34mm scope mounts need to be milled slightly. The Alpha looks really nice, but want to know that it clears and if there is room with a 56mm objective to still use BC flip opens.

Any help is appreciated

You need to call richard near on that one. But I do know that he designed the mount specifically around the S&B, so you should be fine with that.

The 45 moa AI mount doesn't require machining, but the 18 and 28 moa base does.

While I agree that the Near mount is very attractive, I doubt it accomplishes anything better than the AI mount.

The Near mount is better made than the AI mount. It is lighter, stronger, leaves zero ring marks and has 100% return to zero.

have you used the AI mount in comparison? I have used the AI mounts before with no issues, but always wanted to try Near's alpha mount.

Re: Near Alpha mount on an AW

The AI mount will surely work, no problem with it that I have heard of. Plus, it is cheaper than the alphamount, so you can take that into consideration. I haven't used one myself, but I have seen them; they are good to go. However, I am a big proponent of richard's mounts ever since I bought my first one about 3 years ago. I bought 2 more, and let me tell you, I will not use another mounting system, as long as the application permits. Simply the best mounting system I have ever used. Richard oversees the production of every mount, so the quality control is far beyond anything that is mass produced via cnc. Truly a work of art.
