Question for those of you that use neck size bushing dies for reloading. Does it change your shoulder spacing at all as the brass moves while the neck is being sized?

I was thinking of buying a Redding die like this for my 300wsm but had heard that just sizing the neck could effect shoulder spacing, as in longer. Don't see how but thought I would ask.

Re: Neck size bushing die

The whole point of neck sizing is to NOT move the shoulder or resize anything BUT the neck.

If you buy a set of Redding dies for neck resizing, you will however HAVE to bump the shoulder back using the body die once the case becomes difficult to chamber.

However, if you were to not use a lubricant and stick the case in the die, there is a chance you could distort it to some degree.

Re: Neck size bushing die

If you choose a bushing size that is too small and it applies excessive force down the neck going on and up the neck comming off then yes it can push and pull the shoulder around near the junction of the neck and shoulder . With the right size bush and clean brass and maybe some dry lube it will not happen.
