re-sizing some 300wsm brass down to 7 wsm using a .314 bushing in a redding die. I have the bushing depth screw dialed all the way in until it hits the bushing and then backed off 1/2-3/4 turn to let the bushing float. seem to be getting a slight bell at the case mouth.

first time using bushing die's and not sure what i'm doing wrong-need advice.

thanks.

Re: neck sizing question

I would use a standard full length die.this is what I do to resize 243 brass to a 22-250.I just lube them up and run them through the die.and they come out looking like a 22-250.but for me I have a lot of brass to trim off.and even have to turn the necks down some.wouldn't thimk you will have to trim or turn your necks.or at least as much as I do.or you could try a collet die if you have one.but hey this is only my way and opinion.so you make the call on what you want to do.

Re: neck sizing question

Have you run them first through the 300 die? you may be going a little to far on one stroke. Is this new brass? or something that may be a little hard (needing annealing). What kind of case lube are you using?

Re: neck sizing question

new lapua and remington brass being necked down for a 7-300wsm. Using RCBS case lube-used it for years with all my other reloading. Always used full length dies in the past but tried to get out of having a custom die made for the 7-300.
