Gunsmithing Need a lil Paint OverSPRAY removal help my Ar-15

I painted my stock, grip, and forend last night and got a little overspray on my scope tube. DAMMIT!!!! and a little on the reciever. I was curious whats the best product to take paint off a gloss scope or the matte black bushmaster ar-15 reciever too. I dont want to mess up any of these things so I figured i would ask what is safe to use.

Acetone or MEK with a rag. Wear a respirator and gloves with the MEK and don't let either touch some plastics.

Yup.

MEK and acetone will both melt plastics...keep them separate. For fresh, soft paint overspray, I'd reach for the acetone and a clean cloth. A little acetone on the cloth and a bit of elbow grease and you should be good to go.

If you are just wiping a little bit then just grab some and clean it up. Buying a respirator is unneeded if you dont alredy have one for limited use. MEK is fairly strong but wont kill you if you are in a ventilated room. MEK will kill plastic..and quick too. Fingernail polish is fairly harmless and even the non acetone type will remove paint. Its easier on plastic also..
