Re: Need advice from the experts on Savage
I am certainly no expert, however I purshased my .308 carbine about 3 months ago to build as a sub-sonic suppressed rifle. I just got it threaded last month and put a brake on it and untill I get a suppressor. Shoots about 1 MOA with 175's. Details below, but Overall a great rifle for about $700.
I bought this rifle for three specific reasons.....
Detachable box mag+++ super big plus and works well, correct fit and does not rattle, seems to function well, can single load on top of empty mag.
AccuStock+++ is certainly better than the old savage stocks. Seems to be very stiff and rigid around the action, a bit weak out towards the forearm by the bipod stud, digital finish on stock scratches off easily, yet touches up well with Krylon.
Barrel twist & contour+++ 1-10" twist to support heavy sub-sonics and 20" mid weight countour is rigid enough to support suppressor.
