I'm trying to keep the weight down as much as I can on my SPR build up. Starting with RR Predator Pursuit, adding a Daniel Defence Lite rail. As for the butt stock, I'm hung between the Magpul UBR 2.5#'s and the Vltor EMOD less than a pound. It's obvious which ones lightest, what am I giving up going with the Vltor??

I've got a VLTOR carbine Collapsible - had it 4 years and no complaints.

On my new build I want something that adds a little more weight to counter balance the rifle, has more storage and is a little more robust.

I'm hanging on, trying to get a UBR....

Why are you trying to get the weight down? Why is that important to you? What benefit do you perceive you'll get from shaving weight off your project? Once you've made it as light as possible, how will the lighter weight satisfy you? In other words, what's the point?

Seems to me, the first consideration should be for a rifle design which provides you with a good understanding for where the barrel is pointed. Shaving weight off any rifle means more difficulty controlling the rifle, from trigger pull until the bullet clears the bore. It's all about predictable recoil. If you shave weight off, making recoil less controllable, do you not sacrifice accuracy, which I assume is still paramount, for marginal carry comfort?

My suggestion, only if the factory stock does not fit you for a good chipmunk stock-weld, consider one which will support good sight alignment, not one which may just be lighter.
