So with all the panic buying going on a buddy and myself have started working on the stockpile of MIXED fired .223 brass we have laying around.
Looking for pet loads for 50gr Vmax and Blitz King and 55gr Vmax. I have about 16lbs of TAC and a couple of ponds of Benchmark to work with.

This does not have to be bench rest accurate. Just looking for some good blaster, varmint, plinking loads. And this is for some AR-15's. Wylde and NATO chambers.

Thanks,Stan

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

for the 55 grainers 24.5 grains of tac, or 25.5 benchmark. the benchmark is .1 below max so work up to that, it gives me 1/2" 5 shot groups. the tac load was slightly larger but under 3/4"

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

My 55 grain close range blasting load is 24.8 TAC. Hornady 55 FMJ-BT's seated to the cannelure. I've been processing about 2000 mixed pieces of range pick up brass all day. I HATE crimped primers, even with a Dillon Super Swage. Best of luck to you.

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

In a falling block rifle, 26gn with a 50gn Sierra Blitzking bullet shot very well for me. This is just under the max load listed by ADI, but FWIW, was able to go hotter in my rifle.

25 gr. Benchmark
55gr VMAX

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

25grs of Benchmark with a 55 VMAX will be too hot, 24 works better, Im using Win brass, and wsr primers. 25.5grs with the 50grain bullet.

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

I was helping a buddy getting started w/ reloading recently. I gave him some Benchmark that I had to get started with. Hodgdon data on the jug was way different from data on their site. I just mention this because they may have changed something over the years.

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

24.5 grs of tac under 55 gr bullets shoots bugholes from my bolt gun

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

24.5g TAC under any 55gr is fantastic in all my ARs and my Bolt Guns

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

What kind of velocity are you getting? Barrel Length? Im just curious for the info on the AR platform.

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

I've loaded plenty of 55nbt, 25 benchmark, and cci-400 in lc brass in 2 different Ar's a RRA and a DPMS and never had a problem yet they shoot really nice groups even out of a 1-8 twist rra.

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

25 gr Benchmark with 55gr VMAX for me in several .223s.

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

My carbine load is 25.3gr TAC, CCI 450, LC brass and Hornady 55gr fmjhpbt. 3030 fps out of a 20". If using CCI 400, I use 25.5gr TAC. Shoots 1-1.5 moa. Excellent blasters. With better bullets (V-max) I use either 2015, N-133 or Re7 for sub moa.

Re: NEED AR loads for 50-55gr with TAC & Benchmark

for 55gr rounds, I've used 26gr of Tac. This is near book max, so work up accordingly.

16", 18", 20"

24 TAC 75horn = 2670, 2750, 2850+
24.3 Varget 75horn = 2620, 2700, 2800
24.5 TAC 52bthp = 2850, 2950+, 3100+
23.5 TAC 77nosler = 2630, 2650-2700, 2800+

Kind of velocities I see in mine. Numbers are ballpark from memory. Also TAC if it's really hot out or the rounds have been sitting int he sun you can add another 50+ fps to those numbers, easy. I saw 2750 out of my 16" on a very hot day and the brass was dead...
