Hi all i am reloading with AMAX 168Gr Hornady, with Hornady case, the powder i have is H1000, the primer is Federal

The rifle is a Blaser LSR2 300 Win Mag with 26 Inches barrel and 1/11 twist

I just purchase this boom stick and i would love to have some comment on the amount of grains for accuracy purpose from 200 - 1000 yds

And maybe if someone can tell me what is my best bet about the distance of the bullet with the rifling

Thanks for reading or your comment

You would be better served with a heavier projectile if your goal is to shoot to 1000yds. Look more towards a 190 SMK, 208 Amax or something along those lines. The 300wm is not living up to its full potential with the lighter weight bullets.

Re: Need badly amount grain h1000 for 300 Win Mag

You are right about the heavier bullet and i usually shoot with 208 AMAX

My situation is i have to shoot under 180 Grain in a tournament here in Quebec and the range vary between 200 to 800 under 3000fps
so i need to develop this load and try to be competitive

No problem. Just a cut and paste from Hodgdon's site though. They have a good reloading data base there.

If you are limited to 180gns and are a using them for target applications, then I would recommend any of the following.

175 SMK (BC of .505/.496)
178 Amax (BC of .495)
168 Berger Match Target Hybrid (BC of .519)

Hornady 178 bthp Bc of .530. Would be my choice of a under 180 300wm bullet.

Re: Need badly amount grain h1000 for 300 Win Mag

I was afraid you guys would of went there and change my bullet since I have close to 500 units in stock

Since it make sense I guess I will buy a box of those 178 and try them out

Re: Need badly amount grain h1000 for 300 Win Mag

Just bought 2 box of the 178 and will start the test on Friday
any tips on how much grains i should concentrate or start with the regular .5 scale

Well, there you go. Rob ftw! Which is why he is a Mod and I am a lowly minion.

Don't feel bad huckleberry, I tried the 178 bthp and no go for me
I tried the 168 AMAX and I was in .375 at 100 meters for 5 bullet group, so I think I will keep pushing the AMAX but in 178

Thank all for you help
