I have a friend who works for Beretta and is to the point that he saved all his pennies to get a good rifle. Working for Beretta he gets a 33% or so discount on Sako TRGs. He called me the other day on wanting to know if I had any experience with them and I do not.
Now I asked him don't you work for the company that owns sako? He replied yes, then I asked can't they tell you the answers to his questions and he replied no simply because Beretta has nothing to do with sako other than own them and that anyone who knows about them lives in finland.

His questions are here:
How easy can the Barrel be changed out?

Can any gun smith change out the barrel?

Is the bolt a solid one piece bolt?

How is the trigger can they be tuned down?

What are barrel threads?

What is the expected accuracy out of the box with Federal Gold 175 no BS either?

What are the pros and cons with this rifle compared to AI or Custom Rem 700?

And any other insight would be great?

My friend doesn't make a whole lot of money and he works as a repair man at Beretta in MD so this is a big purchase for him and he wants to do it right.

Thanks Guys

Both of you have crappy Google-fu. You can find all this stuff on the net. Since I own one, and am feeling generous, read below:

How easy can the Barrel be changed out?
Just as easily as an AI. Kinetic Research Group is getting ready to do a run of action wrenches for this specific task.

Can any gun smith change out the barrel?
Yes

Is the bolt a solid one piece bolt?
The bolt handle screws into the bolt body. The rest of it is a one piece construction with 3 locking lugs.

How is the trigger can they be tuned down?
The rifle comes with a manual and a set of allen keys specifically for the fasteners on the rifle. Adjustment is as easy as removing the trigger group and adjusting a couple screws.

What are barrel threads?
If you are talking about the muzzle, they are 18x1.

What is the expected accuracy out of the box with Federal Gold 175 no BS either?
They are MOA or better.

What are the pros and cons with this rifle compared to AI or Custom Rem 700?
Same quality and user workability as the AI with less cost. More robust platform than a 700 and retains value much better.

And any other insight would be great?
If he buys it, he is going to love it. Accessories from Sako get a bit pricey, but you have many other aftermarket avenues for bipods, rails, rings, and the like. Mags are pricey, but the money you save over an AI more than pays for a couple mags.

Re: Need Good info on Sako TRG-22

Barrel change same as any other rifle

any good smith can change the barrel

The bolt body is solid

you will not find a better trigger

threads are 18x1

1/2 moa or better (very good and thats no bs)

pros and cons is a hard one (very subjective to each individual) but you will NEVER be out gunned when shooting a TRG

I love mine only thing I would suguest the 20" over the 26"
get the Near base and break for it they are as good if not better than the factory I also suguest the Near rings
