Taking a family trip to NOLA next spring (New Orleans area) me and future son in law want to spend a day shooting nutria (swamp rats )

My Google fu has turned up some guides and opportunities but I don’t have any first hand knowledge.

Anyone done such a trip , live in the area ?
Since I’ll be there and in Mississippi for several days I’d like to have shotguns/ 22 provided since we have a few flights and such.

Check out https://cutoffrange.com/ if you want to shoot paper or steel out to 900 yards, they allow non-members to shoot (good people). The 22LR is insufficient to kill nutrias, think of them like a beaver - tough lil' bastards. Can be done but <50 yards and "kill shots" needed, otherwise not sportsmanship. Oh, and look for places that serve nutria jambalaya, sauce piquante, or gumbo - just make sure it's fresh roadkill (chalk marks on fur) or what you shoot.

Weird, because I have watched videos of people killing tons or nutria with a 22lr.

Well jeez a quick check and ots not even close to correct in the other aspect either. 🤣🤣

"Adult nutria typically weigh between 4.5 to 7 kg (10 to 15 lb), but they can reach weights of up to 16 to 20 kg (35 to 44 lb) in some cases."

"Beavers typically weigh between 35 and 65 pounds, but some can weigh as much as 110 pounds. They are the largest rodents in North America."
