I have a BCM 11.5 pistol that I need to put an optic on. I have been reading and researching and I think I have it narrowed down to two. First is the Steiner P4Xi 1-4 and second is the Vortex Razor JM Gen 2 with the JM-1 reticle. This will just be for a range gun and home defense gun. I am more of a buy once cry once buyer. I am not too much worried about the price difference. Eurooptic still have some of the non E Razors for $899. Would it make more sense to just go ahead and get the Razor ? Should I wait till after Shotshow to see if there is some new hotness that will make people sell their old Razors on the EE at a good price. I don't want to wait too long and miss out on the Eurooptic deal if I decide to go the Razor route. I just need a push in toward one or the other.

Razor is the right choice.

I’d get the E version, personally. The standard Gen II is heavy and weight matters to me, it doesn’t to some.

If you have an extra scope that weighs similar to what a Razor does, stick it on there and see if you can live with that. I tried a Razor on a SBR. It wasn't worth a damn. Took a lightweight handy gun and turned it into a heavy POS. Just something to consider.

Unfortunately I don't, I guess I could mock something up that has about the same weight as the Razor to see how I like the weight. I may attempt to try that.

Realistically, for range use I don't believe you're going to mind +/- 4 oz, and if you ever have to use in a home invasion, your adrenaline will make sure you don't notice it at all. Just my opinion, but I'd go with the razor at that $899 price.
